Reviewing and analyzing 'Blackfish' has opened my eyes into how persuasive and immersive some documentaries cam be. I looked at 'Blackfish' as an example of an expository mode of documentary, as its message is highly visible and persuasive throughout the whole run time. The use of music and archived footage is the most prominent aspect of the documentary, with both leaving the audience feeling haunted and shocked, not only at the tragic events of Dawn Brancheau, but equally at the message of the documentary, detailing the quality of life of captive Orca whales. I will hopefully refer to the music and editing in my own response to documentary, as this helped move the message of the documentary in a very seamless and flowing manner.
