After analyzing the ideologies of the documentaries is that I watched over summer, I decided to analyze the techniques used in the documentaries that I watched. Many of the documentaries I watched followed the typical codes and conventions of documentaries very closely, with almost all of the documentaries I watched having interviews, engaging music and chronological editing. There was a lot of similarity with techniques used with all the documentaries that I watched, which is striking as the genres of the documentaries I watched differed a lot. This has helped me understand that no mater the genre of documentary, it is always beneficial to abide by the codes and conventions of documentaries, as this ensures that your documentary is conveying the correct message the correct way.
