RESEARCHING MAGAZINES FOR MINOR TASK

In order to create a realistic magazine for one of my minor tasks, I decided to initially research magazines that correlated with my target audience. I looked up magazines that were associated with that range of target audiences and then I researched the type of content those magazines produce. From originally researching magazines that target my audience, I concluded three main magazines that would be engaging for my target audience, however I still ensured to research deeper into the content they produce. Cosmopolitan was appropriate for my target audience, as they target 16-34 women, however just by looking at their front covers, I concluded that the type of content discussed in those magazines did not correlate with the seriousness of my documentary. Equally, I found the same with Pride Magazine, despite its relevance towards ethnicity and nationality, I found that the attitudes in Pride magazine were more celebratory, whereas my attitude in my documentary was more somber and discussed the heavier and more negative aspects of nationality and difficulties faced by Immigrants. After conducting further research on the magazine Marie Claire, I found that both our target audiences aligned, and by judging the content on the cover of the magazines, Marie Claire commonly discusses political and negative topics that are relative within a contemporary manner. After researching to find a magazine to produce my minor task from, my next step will be to start analyzing the structure of a double page in a Marie Claire magazine, as well as the color palette and type of pictures.
