After researching and educating myself on the ethics of documentary film-making, I feel more informed on the role of the documentary, and what makes a documentary valuable. Robert Flaherty was a heavily credited film-maker, however some of his films lacked truth, as Flaherty deceived his audience. When referring to my documentary that I will be making. I know that the no matter how important the documentary is to me, or how important I think it is for people to be aware of something, that deceiving your audience and creating a story-line that is not truthful, is not ethical. Following the ethical considerations for documentaries is considerably important, because documentaries do not serve the purpose to purely entertain, but to equally educate.
