Strauss's theory of binary opposites can be common among documentaries as many documentaries use contrast to illustrate their points further, or offer comparisons for the audience to choose to relate to. In the two documentaries I have associated with Strauss;s theory, binary opposition has been created to illustrate how bad each element of the documentary are exposing. It is common for contrast to be seen in documentaries, as this makes the documentary less one sided, and allows for the documentary to either remain objective, or strengthens the documentary's message.
