Following the feedback I received from my teacher, I was advised that my initial documentary idea was too vague, and it was suggested to me that I obtain an angle on my documentary. I was encouraged to look at other BBC3 documentaries, as that is the broadcaster I have chosen to 'broadcast' my documentary. After watching a few BBC3 documentaries and looking at the titles of some, I came to the conclusion that a lot of BBC3 documentaries are positioned as expose's, with the perspective being very negative in exposing some forms of life. I decided that I could see a negative angle for my documentary, as I envisioned my new documentary idea to expose the challenges people who choose to live in another culture face. This seemed appropriate of other BBC3 documentaries, and it allows me to continue my idea of a family documentary, however the main focus will be the challenged faced by people who choose to live in another culture, rather than just the family implications.
