EDITING FIRST DRAFT OF PRELIMINARY TASK

After obtaining the raw footage of my Preliminary task, I was given four days to then edit the interview. Editing the interview was one of the hardest parts of the whole preliminary task process. I first started but adding all the raw footage from both cameras onto premier pro, and then adding a green screen. Then I had to sync both cameras up in order to make the sound and pictures match for when I cut between camera A and camera B. I faced many challenged throughout the editing process, which led me to spend a lot of time editing the interview. Many times my audio wouldn't match up, or there was too much footage so I had to cut down a lot of it. I added cut away's to pictures I obtained by my interviewee, and within these cutaways I then added some of my transitions from camera A to camera B, in order to make the transitions smoother. I had limited access to premier pro, as I could only access it through specific school computers, so I stuck to editing techniques that were not completely time consuming, and would be easily rectifiable if they went wrong. Editing my preliminary task has been one of the most useful parts in consideration of my own documentary, as I learned some of the basic editing techniques that are common among documentary interviews.
