After working in my group and going through some group discussions, we drafted four questions to ask our interviewee that we sent off to a media professional to assess and feedback on. The subject of the interview is carp fishing, and with the aims of documentaries to entertain as well as to educate, we had to draft questions that we thought would evoke some emotion from our interviewee, and create a strong opinion that our interviewee could express on camera. I did some research on carp fishing and found some articles on animal cruelty and many links to PETA, suggesting that this is a prevalent issue, that would be relevant for our interviewee to answer. This process of drafting our first questions has allowed me to reflect on my own documentary and the importance of asking the right questions. My next blog will look at the feedback from the media professional, and how we will adapt our questions to suit that feedback.
