After receiving feedback for my initial documentary idea, I was advised to demonstrate more of an angle of my documentary topic. My initial idea lacked a form of angle, which originally left me unsure on what to document and how. I decided given the nature of my documentary topic, that highlighting the negative aspects of being a young immigrant in the UK would provide me with a more useful angle, that I could then refer to throughout my documentary. After researching some similar documentary topics, I found that often expository documentaries focus on the negative aspects of people or situations, as this can be considered 'revealing and interesting'. I asked my intended interviewees about any attitudes towards their regarded positions in the UK, and I found that the challenges that they have faced to be engaging and interesting. I then re-adapted my documentary pitch to suit this new angle and set out to start researching my topic.
